strcmp

Smithy 14:02, 21 April 2013 (CEST):

Everyone knows strcmp is bad (for commands), but it's still used on the wiki and in the server package. Perhaps it's time that zcmd/ycmd or something was used on the wiki to get people to use it? A lot of people 'learn' from the wiki and if they're taught to use strcmp - they'll use strcmp, and likely never use anything else. Perhaps zcmd/ycmd should be packaged with the samp server (just as fsdebug was). Just a thought. I know it's probably never going to happen.

It's like learning how to use an engine but never learning how an engine works. I dislike this idea. Of course, leading them to make better code isn't bad, but maybe they should still learn by theirselves instead of only using premade processors if you know what I mean.

I have to agree with Meta here. We could make an info box though (like the 'note' boxes), which adverts that there are way better ways to process commands and that the examples used in the wiki are only basic structures. Also we could simply add a second scripting example to each function article in which the command is processed with either zcmd or ycmd, but it would be a shitload of work. Problem is that the layout/basic structure of zcmd/ycmd could change and then every article would have to be updated again.
